ABCorp Adopts 3D Printing

Staying true to our legacy of innovation, ABCorp expanded into additive manufacturing in 2021.

Milestones:

2021

Additive Manufacturing Center

ABCorp added 3D printing capabilities through its Additive Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Boston. This facility features advanced production systems allowing for high-precision production and prototyping. The AMC also offers finishing capabilities enabling custom-colored, functional parts with consistent quality and tight tolerances.

2022

FDA Registration for Medical Device Manufacturing

ABCorp’s AMC achieved FDA registration, allowing it to manufacture a wide range of medical devices, including Class I and II products and some Class III implants. This milestone positioned ABCorp to serve major medical manufacturers by offering a faster go-to-market option for medical devices, leveraging its 3D printing technology to reduce production costs and enhance design flexibility.

2023

Desktop Metal Expansion

ABCorp 3D introduces metal additive manufacturing capabilities to the region via Desktop Metal’s industry-leading binder jetting technology. The expanded capability enables ABCorp 3D to cost effectively 3D print end-use metal parts with unparalleled speed and productivity under a single roof, with the flexibility of multiple base materials including 17-4 PH stainless steel and 316L stainless steel. All production runs in ABCorp’s highly-secure and Intergraf certified facility to ensure the security of customer confidential and sensitive projects.

2024

ISO 14001 EMS Certification

ABCorp 3D received ISO 14001 environmental management systems (EMS) certification, which is the internationally recognized standard that provides a framework for organizations to design and implement an EMS and continually improve their environmental performance. By adhering to this standard, organizations can ensure they are taking proactive measures to minimize their environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements, and achieve their environmental objectives.

2025

ISO 13485 Medical Device Certification

ABCorp 3D received ISO 13485 Medical Device Certification, which outlines specific requirements that help organizations ensure medical devices meet both consumer and regulatory demands for safety and efficacy. ISO 13485 certification protects consumers by ensuring uniformity and quality in medical device manufacturing, enhancing patient outcomes and reducing risk and recall.
